Cagayan is part of one of the largest valleys in the Philippines formed by the majestic Sierra Madre and Cordillera mountain ranges. It is traversed by the mighty 330-km long Cagayan River and its various tributaries.
Cagayan is a very ancient civilization. It has its distinct, rich and diverse culture. Commerce and trade was practiced by its inhabitants and has flourished with the Japanese, Chinese and other neighbor Asian countries even before the Spanish colonizers reached its shores. Archeological findings dating back to the Paleolithic Age indicate that the ancestors of modern humans had settled in Cagayan as early as 500,000 years ago.
Cagayan Provincial Government is led by Governor Manuel ‘Manny’ Mamba. The promotion of Cagayan’s rich heritage, culture, and tourism offerings is one of Governor’s agenda in CAGANDA 2025. His goal is a long-term plan that aims to propel the economic progress through a sustainable tourism industry. Among his priorities is the construction of road networks that will bring in more tourists to their desired destinations in the most convenient way. These roads will serve as links to more economic activities within and outside the province, thereby ushering more opportunities and investments for the Cagayanos. He also aims a tourism campaign that will encourage the participation of every Cagayano; a tourism promotion that will start among the local governments, institutions and people.
